Open Doors (Week 2)
John 10:6-10 6 This figure of speech Jesus used with them, but they did not understand what he was saying to them. 7 So Jesus again said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, I am the door of the sheep. 8 All who came before me are thieves and robbers, but the sheep did not listen to them. 9 I am the door. If anyone enters by me, he will be saved and will go in and out and find pasture. 10 The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.
• I am the door – “I AM” resonates with the Nation of Israel. Cf. Exodus 3:13-14; 2 Corinthians 2:12-14
I AM is the ultimate statement that God is omnipresent, omnipotent, omniscient, omnibenevolent.
The Gospels refer to God as the Gate/Door, the Good Shepherd, the Bread of Life, the Light of the World, the Way, the Truth, the Life, and the Vine.
God has a purpose for opening doors in your life.
• Thieves and robbers – Genesis 4:7 If you do well, will you not be accepted? And if you do not do well, sin is crouching at the door. Its desire is for you, but you must rule over it.” Cf. Acts 5:19; 1 Corinthians 16:9
Matthew 7:7-8 7 “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. 8 For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened. Cf. 1 John 5:14-15; Revelation 3:7; Ephesians 3:20-21
His vision for your life is bigger and better than you’ve had the courage to even dream for. But the question is, "What are you dreaming for?"
Purpose + His Will = Vision
