He Shall Be Called - Wonderful Counselor
Isaiah was written over 700 years before Jesus is born. Isaiah’s message was for repentance and hopeful expectation of God’s deliverance through a Savior, Jesus.

Isaiah 9:6 For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
• Wonderful – (Hebrew, pele') extraordinary and incomprehensible; comes from the root word “wonder” or “marvel”. Cf. Judges 13:8
• Counselor – (Hebrew, ya`ats) one who gives counsel or advice. The word is tightly associated with “purpose” or “determined”. Cf. Isaiah 28:29 …the Lord of hosts; he is wonderful in counsel and excellent in wisdom. – he speaks purpose into our lives.
Getting advice from others. Proverbs 11:14 Where there is no guidance, a people falls, but in an abundance of counselors there is safety.
Proverbs 15:22 Without counsel plans fail, but with many advisers they succeed.
Galatians 6:1 Brothers, if anyone is caught in any transgression, you who are spiritual should restore him in a spirit of gentleness.
Getting advice from Jesus. Psalm 32:8 I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my eye upon you. Hebrews 4:15-16 15 For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin. 16 Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.
Matthew 11:28 Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
