Back to the Future (Missions)
Core Values – guiding principles of an organization, like DNA. It’s the why that drives our mission- connect people Jesus, the church, and the world.
Missions – serve others and tell the world about Jesus.
We are passionate about missions, but many don’t know how to connect the idea of missions to a reality.
Serve Others... Jesus always meet physical needs before meeting their spiritual need. John 4 – Jesus talked about physical and spiritual water with the woman at the well. John 6 – Jesus feeds 5,000 plus with some bread and fish, and then says he is the Bread of Life. John 9 – Jesus heals a blind man and then gives him spiritual sight. John 11 – Jesus raises his friend, Lazarus, from the dead and then says he is the Resurrection and life.
Galatians 5:13-14 13 For you were called to freedom, brothers. Only do not use your freedom as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another. 14 For the whole law is fulfilled in one word: “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.”
How can I help? This simple question will help connect you to serving others in any circumstance.
...Tell the world about Jesus Mission sometimes gets associated with people who travel or live in a third-world country to evangelize. How can you be a part the mission?
Acts 1:8 But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.” Start right where God has you – at home, school, work, neighborhood.
2 Corinthians 5:18-20 18 All this is from God, who through Christ reconciled us to himself and gave us the ministry of reconciliation; 19 that is, in Christ God was reconciling the world to himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and entrusting to us the message of reconciliation. 20 Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, God making his appeal through us. We implore you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God. Cf. Romans 10:9, 1 Corinthians 15:1-4
