Ephesians 6:1-4 1 Children obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. 2 “Honor your father and mother” (this is the first commandment with a promise), 3 “that it may go well with you and that you may live long in the land.” 4 Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord. • Children, obey your parents- Cf. The instructions you give your children will leave a lasting mark on their lives. Not just in words but actions.
• Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger- a parenting error is to tell your child, “do as I say, not as I do.” Cf. Colossians 3:21; Philippians 4:9

• Bring them up- Parenting is many teaching moments that make up a process that leads to the finished product. Cf. 1 Timothy 4:12
Paul was Timothy’s example of the faith—just like you are an example of faith for your children. Cf. 1 Corinthians 11:1
