mini ME (Week 1)
Matthew 18:1-5 1 At that time the disciples came to Jesus, saying, “Who then is greatest in the kingdom of heaven?” 2 Then Jesus called a little child to Him, set him in the midst of them, 3 and said, “Assuredly, I say to you, unless you are converted and become like a little children, you will by no means enter the kingdom of heaven. 4 Therefore whoever humbles himself like this little child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. 5 Whoever receives one little child like this in My name receives Me.
• “Do you wish to be great? Then begin by being. Do you desire to construct a vast and lofty fabric? Think first about the foundations of humility. The higher your structure is to be, the deeper must be its foundations.” – Augustine of Hippo
• Children are humble. Viewing God from the perspective of a child, displays our dependency and need for Him. Cf. 1 Corinthians 1:27; Titus 3:2-6; James 4:6
• Child-like Faith. Humility is God’s starting point that produces child-like faith.
Cf. Hebrews 11:6; Ephesians 2:8-9 Being like a child does not mean we are childish or immature. Scripture calls us to mature – Cf. 1 Corinthians 14:20; Ephesians 4:13-14; Colossians 1:28
Stay humble (right perspective), Grow your faith (through the Word).
