Vision 2018 (Week 2)

What you’re doing, determines where you are going.

Vision is where we are going – Our vision is to see lives changed through God’s Word.

What did Jesus’ earthly ministry look like?

Jesus – 12 disciples Luke 6:12-16 12 Now it came to pass in those days that He went out to the mountain to pray, and continued all night in prayer to God. 13 And when it was day, He called His disciples to Himself; and from them He chose twelve whom He also named apostles: Cf. Matthew 10:1-4; Mark 1:17-18

Jesus – 1000’s he feed and ministered to John 6:5-11, 26-29 10 Then Jesus said, “Make the people sit down.” Now there was much grass in the place. So the men sat down, in number about five thousand.

Jesus – Little flock (Cf. Luke 12:32) John 6:51, 66-69 66 From that time many of His disciples went back and walked with Him no more. 67 Then Jesus said to the twelve, “Do you also want to go away?” 68 But Simon Peter answered Him, “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life. 69 Also we have come to believe and know that You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.”

500+ saw the resurrected Jesus 1 Corinthians 15:1-8 6 After that He was seen by over five hundred brethren at once, of whom the greater part remain to the present, but some have fallen asleep. 7 After that He was seen by James, then by all the apostles. 8 Then last of all He was seen by me also, as by one born out of due time.

120 showed up at the day of Pentecost Acts 1:15 And in those days Peter stood up in the midst of the disciples (altogether the number of names was about a hundred and twenty)

Growth in Acts

Acts 2:41 Then those who gladly received his word were baptized; and that day about three thousand souls were added to them.

Acts 2:46-47 46 So continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, they ate their food with gladness and simplicity of heart, 47 praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily those who were being saved.

Acts 4:4 However, many of those who heard the word believed; and the number of the men came to be about five thousand.

Acts 5:14 And believers were increasingly added to the Lord, multitudes of both men and women

Acts 6:7 Then the word of God spread, and the number of the disciples multiplied greatly in Jerusalem, and a great many of the priests were obedient to the faith.

Acts 11:21 And the hand of the Lord was with them, and a great number believed and turned to the Lord.

Acts 11:24 …And a great many people were added to the Lord.

Acts 14:1 Now it happened in Iconium that they went together to the synagogue of the Jews, and so spoke that a great multitude both of the Jews and of the Greeks believed.

Acts 16:5 So the churches were strengthened in the faith, and increased in number daily.

Every year we look at what season we are in (AKA- next steps) to make sure we continue to move forward in our vision. We are still in a sowing seed season. All we have to do is be committed to the mission—evangelism and discipleship—and God will bring the harvest of increase in due season.

Galatians 6:9 And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart.
