• Tribe of Levi See Numbers 1:50 The Levites were the descendants of Levi, one of Jacob’s twelve children. After God delivered the Law to Moses on Mount Sinai, He marked the Levites as the tribe responsible for the primary religious responsibilities. Cf. Numbers 3:5-10, 31; 18:2-6; Deuteronomy 33:9-10 • Priestly System Instituted (8:1-10:20) See Leviticus 8:1-4, 10 The office of the high priest was instituted with Aaron, the brother of Moses, of the Levite tribe (Cf. Exodus 28:1; Numbers 18:7). People would go to the high priest to know the will of God (Cf. Numbers 27:21). The most important duty of the high priest was to lead the services for the Day of Atonement (Cf. Leviticus 16:6-10).
• Christ is our High Priest See Hebrews 3:1-2; 7:26-28; 9:6-11 Cf. Hebrews 5:1-10
Jesus is our High Priest, and now we don’t need a priest to encounter the presence of God, we have full access. Cf. Ephesians 3:12; Hebrews 4:16
